SBS Wins 'ReMo Urban' Project

Sustainable Building Services has received confirmation that it has been made principal contractor for a new energy efficiency demonstration project in Nottingham.

The Remo Urban Project is a European-funded urban regeneration model, supported by Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham City Homes (NCH), Nottingham City Council's enviroenergy team and other partners. It aims to provide a blueprint for industry best practice that other social housing providers can subsequently replicate.

UK Should Re-Insulate 'A Home Minute'

A Parliamentary report by the Green Building Council has emphasised the urgent need for better insulation within Britain's housing stock.

The authors note that home heating accounts for a third of the UK's carbon emissions and that if the country is to stand any chance of meeting its reduction targets, then it must make poorly insulated homes a priority. Under international agreements, the UK is required to achieve an 80% reduction in its CO2 emissions by 2050.

SBS in Celebrating Construction Awards

On 16th March, just one day after hearing of its shortlisting in the Construction News Awards, SBS received confirmation that it had also made the finals of the East Midlands Celebrating Construction Awards.

SBS will be a finalist in the 'Integration & Collaborative Working Award' category. The winners will be announced at the awards evening, which will take place on 19th May 2017 at the Nottingham Belfry.

SBS a Finalist in 2017 Construction News Awards

On 15th March 2017, Construction News named SBS as a finalist in its  Supply Chain Excellence award category. The Construction News Awards will be held this year on 13th July at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The company's nomination focused on various projects procured through Efficiency East Midlands and, in particular, on its work  for Nottingham City Homes - a scheme for which SBS has already won two industry awards.

SBS Supports Community Centre Refurb

In February 2017, representatives of Nottingham City Homes, SBS and its supply chain partners attended the grand re-opening of the Sheila Roper Community Centre in Nottingham.

Between 2015 and the end of 2016, SBS delivered an £8 million external wall insulation scheme for NCH - work that entailed the treatment of more than 1,100 social and private properties. As part of its commitment to the project, SBS - together with key supply chain partners such as PermaRock products and Nationwide Windows - agreed to support the refurbishment of the community centre.
